Gondry Has Fun with "Be Kind Rewind"

"Be Kind Rewind" Directed and written by Michel Gondry
Featuring Jack Black, Mos Def, Mia Farrow, Danny Glover
Release February 22, 2008

First it was Jim Carrey and Kate Winslet in "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind." Next was "Science of Sleep" with Gael GarcĂa Bernal of "Motorcycle Diaries." His third debut "Be Kind Rewind" is anything but predictable. The upcoming comedy, starring Jack Black, Mos Def, Mia Farrow and Danny Glover, is about a junkyard worker (Jack Black) who attempts to destroy a power plant that he's convinced is melting his brain. His plan doesn't go as expected and instead accidentally erases all the videotapes in his friend's, Mos Def, video store. To keep Mos Def from losing his job, Black and Def decide to recreate and re-film every movie that the store's most loyal customer, Mia Farrow, rents. In an unexpected twist of fate, the town goes crazy for their recreated versions of some of today's biggest movies from "Ghostbusters," "Back to the Future," "The Lion King" to "Robocop." It isn't until the authority gets whiff of the duo's work and charges them with a violation of copyright that things get messy.
